Frequently Asked Questions

What is the purpose of the board?

The Board is comprised of four officers (President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary) who serve as an advisory body, guiding the policies and activities of the Association. Together they prepare the budget, approve all bills or other obligations, and designate special committees as deemed necessary.

All officers of the Association must remain members in good standing during their term of office, act at all times in the best interests of the Association, and represent the majority interests and desires of the Membership.

What do Committee Chairmen do?

Committee Chairmen are responsible for recruiting members for their respective Committees, delegating tasks as needed to fulfill the purpose of their Committee, and organized committee meetings as often as necessary to effectively carry out their duties. Since we are a small neighborhood of only 6 streets, most Committee Chairmen duties require only about 1-2 hours per month, with most months requiring less time than that. Our organization values outlined and defined standard operating procedures to minimize the effort and amount of time necessary to fulfill these volunteer positions. The Board provides information and assistance to the Committee Chairmen necessary to complete their tasks and are available to assist as needed.

I’m interested in being a committee chair or at least joining a committee, but I’m busy. What’s the time commitment like?

We understand that finding time to volunteer is hard these days, and no one wants to commit to something only to find out later that its MUCH more work than what was proposed. Our neighborhood is smaller than others in our area, which means the amount of time required to run and maintain our association is far less simply due to size.

However, that doesn’t mean that participation is any less important – quite the opposite, actually. The only way our association will continue to run in the years to come is with your help. Please consider joining a committee, even if just to be on a call list of people willing to help us with the occasional task as it arises.

How do I join a committee?

For more information about committees or to inquire about available positions, email MSNA President Jen Bertrand at president@marlboroughsquare.com or fill out the contact form on our website. We’re excited to have you on our team!
